Technical Committee
A cross-industry alliance at OASIS Open developing a compatibility standard for seamless data access across all computational locations — from on-premises HPC to cloud-hosted services, without migration between vendor platforms.
What the committee is building.
The TC develops an open compatibility standard establishing cross-compatibility between file systems, object stores, orchestrators, and the broader storage ecosystem.
- 01Standardize interactions between file systems, object stores, and orchestrators
- 02Define common data formats and expected behaviors across platforms
- 03Specify open APIs and protocols for cross-platform data access
- 04Enable interchangeable components without data migration
- 05Strengthen data stewardship, governance, and provenance at scale
Standards work products.
SNS Project Charter
Defines the scope, goals, and governance of the Technical Committee.
Compatibility Specification v1.0
The core standard defining formats, behaviors, APIs, and protocols.
Conformance & Test Suite
Reference tests vendors use to validate interoperable implementations.
Committee co-chairs.
Once everything is everywhere, anything can be run anywhere — and with an open standard, innovation in storage can blossom from any source.
Interoperability standards between big data storage vendors are long overdue as we scale toward multi-petabyte and multi-exabyte datastores spanning the globe.
How we meet
The TC meets regularly via teleconference, with work conducted openly on OASIS mailing lists and document repositories.
Who can join
Participation is open to OASIS members across the storage, cloud, HPC, and research communities.
Open process
Specifications are developed under the OASIS open standards process, with public review before approval.
Join the Technical Committee.
Participation is open to storage vendors, cloud providers, HPC manufacturers, enterprise software companies, research institutions, and anyone implementing single namespace solutions.
